Driving a Bus that can't Drive
As the official handlers of the Madden Cruiser, owned by the Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH, WOOD-LEE International Art Handler recently had to transport the famous bus to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. Though we are not the owners of the bus, we treat it as if it were our own when we are the people in charge of getting it from Point A to Point B safely and efficiently. One of the reasons we were entrusted by the NFL Hall of Fame is because our art handlers have experience working with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s historical Johnny Cash Tour Bus. While Johnny Cash’s bus can still drive fairly well, John Madden’s Greyhound needs some serious repair if it wants to see the road again.
To get the Madden Cruiser from Ohio to the stadium in Nevada we had to put the bus on a special flatbed truck that could make the distance. Two of our top art handlers, Woody Melton and Brian Altekruse, drove the entire way to Las Vegas with the flatbed carrying the bus, ensuring its safe arrival. Funnily enough, our handler Brian, like John Madden, prefers driving long distances over flying as well!
The bus arrived at Allegiant Stadium freshly cleaned and without any hiccups on the road. Once the bus was parked in its spot and ready for the fan tours, our expert handler (and Vice President), Woody, even gave several interviews to local news stations about the bus and how excited everyone was to see it. We don’t typically speak on behalf of the client, but Woody was briefed with some information to highlight and was already a John Madden fan himself. Overall, the drive was long, but the experience was wonderful, and our crew made the event as seamless as it could be.
