OMA at Put-in-Bay!

Lisa Holly, our President, and Tara Melton, Lisa’s niece and our moving estimator, had a great time attending the Ohio Museum’s Association Conference a few short weeks ago. This year, the conference took place much closer to home than in the past, just a short trip for us to -Sandusky and Put-in-Bay!

Even though it was within driving distance, Lisa and Tara still stayed at the hotel the OMA took place in, Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron. We feel that staying close to the conference really enhances the whole experience, since you can mingle and network and not worry about things like getting home too late. This year’s theme, “Sustaining Museums for Future Climates,” was particularly interesting to us, as that is one of our goals at WOOD-LEE International Art Handler, carefully handling and storing to preserve any fine object we touch for the future.

Though the ferry ride was a bit chilly, it was fun to be on the water on the way to Put-in-Bay. Having grown up in the area, Lisa spent a lot of time over the summers at the islands of Lake Erie, but mostly in the water; she really enjoyed exploring all of the history and art the islands have to offer as well, and was shocked at how much she had overlooked for so many years.

We always enjoy our time at OMA, in addition to exploring and learning, we always meet tons of new and interesting people. As always, we can’t wait for next year!
